Hi Every one, just a wee question, I was out walking this morning and met some of Inka and Kains wee Cocker pals, the lady was saying on of them Jura was needing a hair cut but was'nt sure about cutting cause he is still under a year, should you wait till over a year before you cut they're coats ? Thanks Elaine
At a year old he's still half puppy coat and part adult, if they have him clipped it will ruin his adult coat, hand stripped is best at that age.
I always say it's up to the owner, if they are going to have him clipped all his life then it wont really make much difference. Becky
OUCH ! Hand stripped, hes a lovely wee guy, chocolate colour, and his coat is pretty even no bits you could just pull out, thanks crazycockers, if I meet her tomorrow I'll let her know, she is thinking of breeding from him so I think she will be quite particular with his coat, he is really gorgeous, kept cuddling me this morning.
I Clip all mine (as i don't show). with most of them i waited until they where 12 months. but with gracie i had to clip her at 8 months old. she had so much hair it was uncomfy for her and damn near impossible to get a brush through it.
At his age he should be handstripped. I would say with cockers, don't clip their back unless the hair has gone out of control, if they have been neutured their coat goes very thick and wirey so this could be a time when clipping is needed. Clipping usually ruins the coat and makes it grow back curly. What type of cocker is he, a working or show type?
