Hi all, I just joined this forum and I am hoping that someone has advice regarding chronic diarrhea with blood and sometimes mucous. My Shar Pei Lex, has had chronic diarrhea for the last 6 months, our vet has done blood tests, ultra sounds, CT scans and he has been treated for anything and everything that could cause diarrhea, he does well for two weeks and then he relapses. We've changed his food to a prescription diet and no change. Up until six months ago Lex was perfectly healthy and I just want him to get better, I love him so much and I don't know what to do.
I am so sorry for your Shar Pei. You must be at your wits end. Have you tried excluding all manufactured foods and cutting back to something like white fish and rice?
Yes. White fish lightly poached and white rice slightly over cooked. Also lighyly steamed pumpkin [fresh, not tinned] will also help.
