can someone explaine the breed standard of NI {type} dogs to me,,

I thought I would start a new thread following on from another thread where the breed standard came up for NI type dogs

    http://www.dogsey.com/showthread.php?t=87464&page=6

    my first question is

how many standards are out there for these dogs,

can someone explaine them to me

My first concern is, the standard posted on the above link for the Northern Inuit,

height : 24" to 32" which brings these dogs into the size range of IWH, Borzois, Deerhounds

but the dogs lenght has to be as 10/9 so its a very long dog

which must have a short Loin
    but
    elbows fitting close to chest
    with
Leg length longer than over all height
    and
    short hocks

any explanation of this would be great,

:? Never really paid much attention to the detail of the standard before, but that seems like a nightmare to me overall. Constructionally it sounds like a very odd dog and if it has a short loin, how many ribs would it need ? :?

    So say for example!

a dog is 30" high he would be 33" long, with short loin, then longer leg than depth of body, but elbows fitting close to chest,, and short hock, can someone draw me a pic of that?

No wonder people are so confused by the standard if there's no actual blueprint to go by. If there was an exemplary dog/wolf and the standard was written to that animal then at least there would be no ridiculous measurements. On the other had, if the standard hasn't been written to a particular animal, then the measurements would surely have to be derived from studying the construction of similar animals, altering them to an 'ideal' perhaps, and creating accurate drawings.

I'm not sure of all the terminology in breed standards, but if I work it out, I'd have a go at a diagram.

I think the standard says 'shot' hock, so the thigh would need to be exceptionally longer.

Are there any dogs with short loin when they are longer than they are tall. Can someone point me in the direction of a breed that has this so I can imagine that picture and add the rest to it because I cannot get a mental picture of this dog as described, why did they not just write a breed standard based on a particular wolf, (seeing as we already have wolves and they are pretty much similar among species) and then adapt temperament, if it is a wolf - looking dog that is desired?

Last night you accused people of riddiculing threads about the NI. Shona has posted a perfect ligitimate thread, with valid questions and your first two replies are above, how on earth should people respond and take the breed seriously?

I just can't get passed this bit:
WITH LEG LENGTH SLIGHTLY LONGER THAN OVERALL HEIGHT
How would that be possible in a dog, may be in a spider but if a dog had legs longer that it was tall, it would be taller, would it not?

Just noticed this bit under body section:
    GOOD REAR ANGULATION. SHORT HOCKS
Well it would jolly well have to be if the legs are longer then the dog is tall

    HELP
