Hello, I am thinking about putting a deposit on the puppy below but unsure if its a blue or lilac border collie, any ideas? The colour doesn't have anything to do with me putting a deposit on the puppy because I do really like the pup but it would be nice to know. Thanks.
I searched Lilac puppy on google images and found the link below which looks like the pup http://www.bordercolliecolors.com/lilac tri puppy Waegeve.jpg but I'm still not sure, the parents are both black and white. The fathers parents are both black and white The mothers parents are black and white mother and red and white father. If that helps?
I say Lilac myself PS....just looked at it again and thought that actually could turn into red and white , abit of a mystery there.....beautiful pup though
How old is the puppy now ? you really need to see the puppy in the "flesh"to decuide the colour. I would be guided by the nose colour-blues have slate grey noses. You could try joining Anadune database & see what colours are behind the puppies
It is unusual but if both sides are carrying red and the dilute gene it can happen and it could be lilac. Blue sounds more likely with all the b/w but it could easily happen. rune
Difficult to see, but it looks red/white to me. What are the parents KC names? What colour is the pups nose? This is my Skye at 6 days old, blue and white. You can really see Skye's blue nose in this pic. This is the litter Skye had earlier this year, 3 blue tris and a lilac and white at 6 days old. Star, the lilac pup I kept, at 10 days old.
Not sure what the colour of the pups nose is. I'll just wait and see when he gets bigger, he is still cute.
OK - I may regret asking but... what`s the difference between lilac and blue? Is one light grey and one dark grey?:?
Blue is the dilute of black/white and lilac is the dilute of red/white, so blue is a grey colour and lilac is light brown (sort of).
No, but I am going to see the pup next week can't wait he already has a name, which is Shadow lol and I haven't got any other pictures either at the moment. They aren't a KC registered breeder it's a local farm, whose dogs has had a litter.
Get lots of pics of pup when you go see him!!! Are the parents or grandparents ISDS registered? Because if they are we may get a better idea of what colours they are carrying, so what colour the pup maybe. Be very interested to see pics of him growing up!
