My friend bought one of those personalised crystal name collars off an pet web site for her little Chihuahua X Pomeranian, only when it came she was horrified to say the least the letters were pushed through collar by a sharp pin with an stud to hold letter in place Web site said collars were made from leather they just forgotten to say fake leather, the collars starting price was £10 plus £1.50 per letter & £4.50 p&p I was gently bending the collar & 3 of the 5 letters snapped off leaving the pins sticking out of collar, there are several different manufactories making these collars & a lot being sold on eBay & Amazon, so if you are thinking of buying one for your dog please make sure they are slide on letters & not the letters that are pin push through collar. slide on letters safer ones push through pin letters (not collar my friend had)
Yes, thanks Tina. It's not the sort of thing I normally go for, but at that price they really should be well made. Since getting Chico, I've seen no end of collars, harnesses, clothes, beds etc aimed at the toy dog market, and have been shocked at how tacky and poorly made a lot of it is - and very over-priced. Just hope no dogs get hurt.
Thanks Tina for this warning, but I wouldn't get one of these for my dogs I don't like strangers knowing my dogs names.
Nice one for the warning..those collars are just jumping on the trend band waggon and end up being cheap n nasty things.i don't need everyone knowing the name of my dog not only that,I'd check what I was buying x
I'm not too keen on bling, and still prefer traditional bridle leather. I do like the beaded leather tassels on sighthounds though.
I have one from pets at home for Hugo my Cavvie but the letters slide on and I've never had a problem with it.
