Are solid, or mostly solid coloured heads classed as a fault/mismarked in ESS?

Just wondering really if solid coloured/marked heads are classed as a fault/mismarking in English Springers?
Just something someone said this evening...

I dont think there is a specific requirement Luke, but most tend to be a solid head with white markings on muzzle and a blaze. No mention of specifics in the breed standard.

    Hi there,
I have an ESS who i used to show and he has a white muzzel but a solid head, which never seemed to effect his 'career'!
    Hope that helps.

Short answer - no! ;-)

Solid coloured/mismarked heads/faces may well be favoured by some judges, but it's not in the breed standard to have specific markings on the head/face. :)

Here's Fingal & Beau (not show spaniels though)

Both are mainly liver with white underneath & chest.

    As for the head :

Beau's a liver head with a clean defined white muzzle.

Fingals is predominantly liver head - you can have 'splodgy' too - not sure of the technical term.
