As I've decided to learn a bit more about them . So does anyone know about them? As from what I can gather the only difference between them and a Lurcher is the hunting styles, where a Lurcher 'lurches' towards game, and Tumblers causes what they are hunting to 'tumble' is this right, and can a Lurcher and Tumbler be born from the same litter? And are Tumblers still bred and worked today, and if so by who? Do they specilise in certian quarry, or are they more all rounders or does it depend on what breeds are in them? All these questions are not because I want one though, I wish that I could have another dog, but having the types that I do I think its nice to know a bit more about their history and different things about dogs of the same type
LOL The only live Tumbler I have heard of is a type of pigeon that display fly doing aerial tumbelrs !
They were bred to hunt silently, often using stalking and stealth like tactics. They used Collies to get the "stalking" Whippets etc for speed. They were "Gypsy" dogs, poaching dog.
Thanks, I just looked up on his other dogs bit and saw Blade, who apparently caught a hare two weeks before welping I never thought that anyone would work a pregnant bitch.
