Any experience of summer jobs abroad?

My son has been looking for a job for ages - he's applied for loads, and no one even bothers to get back to him!

He's wondering if he could get a summer job abroad - Eurocamp or similar. Does anyone have any experience or advice - or what he should beware of?

I haven't done it myself but a lot of people do - Australia has always bee a popular destination.

Could he get some bar work or something?

Or... I know it's boring, but he could spend the time learning something, like programming :D

It's not programming, but he already goes two days a week to college learning boring things about computers! Then three days a week he volunteers at a Sue Ryder charity shop - I think they're very pleased to have him as the rest of the volunteers are old dears who don't want to do the cashing up and banking and can't do heavy stuff, so at least he's making himself useful!

I think he'd love to go Australia if there was anything going. He found an ad, supposedly for a job, at a summer camp in the USA. When he started filling in the form there were all sorts of questions about religious beliefs, and then he came to the bit where you had to say whether you had piercings, tattoos or long hair. The answers were yes, yes, and yes! He'd be happy to take out the piercings and cover the tattoos, but not cut his dreadlocks. Then, by the time he got to the end, it turned out you had to pay them nearly five hundred pounds before you started work. So he won't be pursuing that one!
