as title says my 6mth old border collie bitch is balding around her left eye. right eye is perfect she has not gunk in or around her eye although it is a little blood shot its not bothereing her at all either. im just a bit worried surely she shouldnt be loosing hair just around her eye?? i have checkede eryehere else and she is perfect. any advice really welcome?? i ahev also posted this on the health fforum as well but wasnt sure if maybe it was a border collie thing??
cant think what the problem is maybe one of the others might have had same problem ,if you are worried id take her to the vets
Sounds like it could be demdex, do you have a piccy!? If it is its easily cleared up.All it is is the hair mites getting alittle overactive & the immune system not sup[ressing them. So you can either kill the mites or boost the immune system, or both.
Cassie is quite prone to this and it's usually a bit of an eye infection that's cleared by drops from the vet.

Hello, my Charlie (who is incidentally half BC) had this, he was loosing hair round both his eyes, it looked very odd. Anyway turned out it was a food allergy. It also gave him a heavy dandruff. He was given antihistamines. It cleared up about a week after I changed his diet and being on the meds. According to our vet it is quite common.
just rang vets they cant get her in till next week. im a bit as i am 5 moths pregnant and also have a 2 1/2 yr old daughter should we limit our contact with her until we know what it is
