I got it first time but only because I saw one face-to-face in the Vets a few weeks back. The young man tried to tell me it was a Staffie X until I pushed the point and he felt comfortable enough to say that it was a Pitt. It was the most gorgeous dog and wanted to play with my Bambi
I hate the misconception of owners and people who own in the UK, I was walking my staff one day and found a pit basically left for dead behind some bins, i took it to a vet friend who verified its breed. After allot of love and research we found out it came from Texas, stolen and shipped illegally, she was 1 year old when founded and believed to be in fights. Around a year leter she made a full recovery and was the best dog I have ever had, she still had her scars so did get allot of bad looks from people so ended up tkaing her out at night and far places without people there. We tracked down the owners through websites etc. and got her back over there through 'cough' alternative shipping methods, and now we receive pictures every month of her. Point is, even after miss treatment she still gave her trust and love in us, and if it wasn't for for this law she would of been the best pet I would of had, but couldn't stand the risk of loosing her after the recovery she made, not fair. ban the banned dogs act.
A happy ending! Glad she has a loving homing now. Can't imagine the life she would have led beforehand and how distraught her owners would have been to know she had been shipped so far away. Thank goodness you found her and looked after her and the vet didn't PTS!
Not in the UK they are not!! I can understand that in Countries and states, that Pits are legal, you will have breeders who breed for temperament to fit into family life. But here in the UK, we dont have that privilege.. the facts are pits are an illegal breed, and with that brings illegal breeding , and they are not meant for the family pet market. You where extremely lucky to be able to find the original owner of an abandoned dog left to die in the UK behind bins. How did the owner prove this was his/her dog??? and who did you ensure it did not end up in the fighting ring back in Texas.. Why would you after nursing a dog back to full health , turn it over to someone on the Internet ,who said it belonged to them:? :?
