Hello Tired but happy owner of a new pup !! She is 12 wks old and has been at home for 3 nights, straight from a farm and is gorgeous but I am up at 5am with her and she is whining and missing mum so much... Any advice pls Thank You
She only has a small bladder & prob needs a wee, If you let her out will she settle down afterwards. Where is she sleeping? are you crating? Could you take her to bed with you ?
Hi She is in a crate from bedtime (10 ish) outside for a wee beforehand... I remove water 2hrs before bed, There is so much conflicting advice out there. It is difficult to know what is best. After years (15) of wanting a BC, other half only agreed if not upstairs. I intend to kennel her in the grden during the day too when out ?? Thanks
Ok in that case then i would get up, let her out but keep quite quiet, dont really interact too much, then sit/lie by her crate till she goes back to sleep then slip back to bed for a few hours.
Young pups are such hard work but some good advice given. If it's any consolation, it will get better......
Today (well last night) was much better, she whined for 10 mins and then was asleep until about 6ish, one slight wee but I opened the back door for her to go outside, which she did and then promptly came in and went on the kitchen floor.......ah well !!
Great she was better last nihgt. Just wanted to add that taking her water away could be making matters worse as the pups body can go into drought mode and that can actually make them pee more. Pups can also become dehydrated very quickly and should have access to clean, fresh drinking water at all times. Good luck, it is early days yet.
Thank you ALL There is so much conflicting info out there ! Think I just need to chill out and go with gut instinct ;-) At least I have had some sleep Does anyone have any advice for moving her to outside kennels Thank you ... am very grateful
well done, im like a zoombie the first few days! Just think Consistant & try to keep her calm,if you need to get her back to sleep, & ull be fine!. Where in somerset are you from ,im oringinally from Minehead
I'm from Cheddar Funny thing happened last night, OH has been away working, I put pup to bed, routine followed, radio etc, she whined for about 10 mins and was settling down, I fell asleep, OH decided to get her out of crate to be with him. Result -- whining from 2 to 5am, Guess who snored thro it ??????? Positive things - outside for all toilet stuff - yeh ¬!!!¬!!!"
Pleased to report excellent progress Now house trained Walking to heel off the lead Sleeping all night with no wimpering Not so tired owner V. Happy !!!! Just one thing How do I get her to go to the toliet on a walk, she gets home from a walk desperate for a wee etc and bolts to her space in the garden. I've searched the internet for a answer and can't find anything...any ideas from you guys our there ?? Thank you
Yey! well done you!! Do you have a wee word? I use quick Quick. Some bitches are funny about going, Chill it will "come", let her have a nose about where others have been going, but if not dont worry!
Thank you Funnily enough I use "wee" Just getting a bit confusing between 10yr old's "wii" and Pup's "wee" lol
