My male chi does not do mud or rain, If i go to take him for a walk in the rain he will just stop dead in his tracks and i have to drag him a little and then he will mince around practically on his tip toes and then i have to pick him up and carry him the rest of the walk.

With the weather how it is at the moment round here I'd have to put a snorkel on a Chi!!!!!

Oh, I'm so glad it's not just mine! Yesterday on their walk, there was a puddle in the middle of a narrow pavement. They were literally trying to jump into the road under moving traffic, just to avoid the puddle. I laughed, thinking of of Sarah's earlier post regarding Chis and Puddles! Eventually, they walked through the wet, like you say, on tiptoes! Definitely not bad weather doggies:lol:

That put a funny picture in my head. Me walking six Chis with snorkels on them:lol:    I think it's the only way I'd get them out today though. Think I'm let off the doggy walk today:grin: Will have to get the toy box out and get them running round the lounge after their balls, etc. Mind you, the Princesses (Tiani and Krystal) wouldn't fetch a ball if you paid them. Far too superior:lol:   Krystal loves tug o' war though, so we'll wear her out doing that. Mind you, she's being Mummy to the pups at the moment, so she won't leave them for too long to play. Bless her:mrgreen:

Bryan used to hate the rain and will still leap over any puddles in the pavement. Bt he's a bit bigger than a Chi so I make him go out

Oh yeah, if I had bigger dogs, I'd make them go out too. In fact, if the weather's bad for a few days, then I put their coats on and just jolly them along, as I feel they do need to get out and get some exercise and fresh air, even if they are tiny. Trouble is, where they are so small and close to the floor, they get absolutely saturated and dirty from the pavements, so it's a case of baths all round, which is another hour job with six of them (soon to be eight when Frankie and Phoebe start coming walkies)

Do you take all 6 at once? I'd love to see that! I can understand about them getting wet and dirty - Bryan gets filthy and he's about 12 inches off the floor.

How are they with other dogs? We've never met one. The smallest dog we play with is a JRT/Yorkie. He's tiny, but not as tiny as a chi.

I must admit I am not familiar with Chis but I think Fluffles looks like a real character, and the picture of Mum and babies is so cute, I might be converted!

I tend to take out only 4 on my own. Not because I can't handle any more but when an off-lead dog comes bounding over (as often happens) I find that six is a little difficult to protect to be honest. When my Daughter comes with me, then yes, we take all of them together.

Bailey and Pebbles don't like 'strange' dogs much but in Pebbs case that is because she has been bitten and chased by unfriendly dogs (hence I don't let mine go off-lead anymore:-( ) so she just assumes that every dog means harm but once she gets to know them, she's fine.

Bailey didn't come to us until he was 5 months and he hadn't been walked as his first owner said "he didn't like it" so I'm not sure he'll ever be the best walker in the world. He doesn't bark or show aggression at other dogs, he just makes a howly, girly sort of cry when he sees other dogs. I think it's excitement really.

Tiani loves dogs of all sizes. She just wants to be friends with all dogs but, unfortunately, she was bitten by a JRT last year (Even though I was holding Tiani the JRT, that snapped its lead to ravage my dogs, jumped up and bit her leg). It hasn't put her off though, she still likes to make friends. She's probably the friendliest dog you could ever meet.

    Thank you Mum To Many:mrgreen:

Fluffles has the absolute best nature of all my Chis. She's not only friendly but also never took on the "I'm a Chi - I'm a Princess" personality that so many of them have. She eats what she's given. If there's no room on my lap, she will go lie in her bed, she never barks in the house, not at all territorial. In fact she's an angel!

Her colour (chocolate - which is quite rare in Chis) makes her look quite different to the others. She's also the only longcoat out of them, so another difference.

Many people have said my Chis have converted them. Most people (myself included before I got Tiani) think that Chis are just yappy little snappers but it simply isn't true. Like Rotties aren't baby eaters and so on:roll: People just make assumptions. My little gang are not perfect. Far from it but they are quite a cool little lot:) They have their yappy moments but on the whole they are a good bunch. I wouldn't change them for the world. The amount of people, when I'm out, ask me "will they bite if I pet them, cos they're snappy these, aren't they?" It does get irritating and make you want to say "yeah, they'll have your fingers off" but on the whole I try to 'educate' people and let them have a cuddle with them and usually, within minutes, they are smitten with them:)

im so pleased for you and your babies! they are adorable.
im asking a bit of a thick question but you say the little one might be long haired and hes only be able to stud long haired? just curious to know what they produce when covering a short hair?
sorry if my question is really stupid lol

   Not stupid at all. Just hope I understand your question properly. Let me know if I'm not making sense.

Well, basically, there are only the two types of Chihuahua (as you prob know but I'll start at the beginning..) longcoat and smoothcoat.

Unless you mate a long with a long or a smooth with a smooth, then you cannot register the pups with the KC, as they are seen as two different breeds. That being the reason it's not so good me having a longcoat boy when I only have one longcoat girl and the rest smooth, as I wouldn't be able to register any pups, therefore won't go down that route with mating.

As far as what is produced when you cross long and smooth, well some will say that you get a "semi" but from all my chats with Breeders and so forth, this is not the case. You either get long or smooth, dependent upon whichever the puppy takes genetically from the parents - either long or smooth. Possibly though, I expect a smooth that is from smooth x long parents, may possibly have a thicker coat than a smooth (hence why some people call them Semi - don't know this but can only imagine this is what people mean by the term semi).

Hope that makes sense. Sorry....I do go on a bit:blush:

Thank you for your lovely comments regarding my babes:mrgreen:

Oh and by the way, I sent a pic of Frankie to my Breeding Mentor and she said he might not be long, that sometimes their baby coat is a bit fluffy and that as he doesn't have 'hairy ears' he may be smooth after all - that would be good!:002: Whatever he is though, is fine by me, cos we are mad about him:mrgreen:

Thank you:grin: I'll have to post some more soon. Krystal's pups are 3 months now. They are little beauties. Phoebe is the dead spit of her Mum and Frankie is the image of his Dad (he's a Stud dog, so his pics not here). They are both really gorgeous. Has been quite difficult housetraining two at the same time but, apart from that, they are just fantastic. Get their second vacc this week, so soon be going for walkies! Can't wait!

After the threads you've seen me slated on recently, can you wonder why I didn't expose my litter before:001:

The sad thing is, when I started this thread, I had people pm me to say that they had a litter but because their dogs weren't show dogs, they felt they couldn't show their litters on here, for fear of being slammed.

I think some Dogsey members need to be less judgmental and start taking each breeder on their own merits.

I'm not talking about you Shona (I know you are not one to judge without good cause) but I was just reading through the whole of this thread, after it being brought up by a new member and I just had to say this.
