Hi all, I am another shih tzu owner. Oscar is almost 18 weeks and so far things are going quite well. We started puppy classes with a kc registered training group after Oscars first jab. Socialising is going very well he enjoys walks and is very playful and friendly when he meets new dogs. He loves children, well people full stop. Because he is still a pup he attracts a lot of attention from people he meets. He so far has not been grumbling, but he does have a really funny chirping sound he makes when he has a mad 5 mins. He races round and round our living room sounding like a mobile phone lol. Hollie yes the hugging and kissing my partner, yep Oscar will bark at us if we try to get close lol. We just ignore that as best we can. I have never owned this type of dog before, my partner and I discussed at great length the type of size dog we wanted, temperament wise etc. We most certainly have no regrets. Oscar is fun, mischievous, affectionate and definitely now one of the family. A real character!!!!
My shih-tzu is very protective - since she was only a few months old she has been telling cats they can't go into the garden, she is fine with my cat, and cats on the street. and last week a huge husky came galloping up the road towards us, I picked her up, as you do, and told it to go home, and there is my 7 month little shih-tzu bitch gurring at it! I felt like saying, don't antagonise it while I am between you both lol
