My passion for Staffies - please post your pics here

My passion for Staffies was fed last Saturday whilst out with Jackie. I met the most gorgeous black and white staffie I've ever seen - just to die for.

He was with a young family and I was talking to the mum. Apparently this poor dog had been kept in a cupboard as a youngster, and she had rescued him.

He was totally outgoing, absolutely adored everyone he met, including me....., and the family obviously loved him to bits.

He was built like the proverbial outhouse, and as strong as an ox. This tells me that, although I would just adore one, I really couldn't handle one........

I'll just have to keep drooling over all of yours....

Come on, keep an old bird happy...... please?

Tonks is very strong, but she rarely pulls, a halti harnes worked really well as a youngster as well as lots of clicker training. If she does pull, for example to get to some one, i either ask her to sit, which she usually does, but if she is getting over excited i bend down and gently hold her by wrapping my arms around her chest, and this calms her down. If you hold her collar (or keep letting her pull on the lead) it has the complete opposite effect and she looks like a mad staffy pulling machine.

I think, the less often they get to use and practise their strength, the better. Before i got her i decided i didn't ever want to get into a battle of strength with her, as in general she could win, and it has really paid off. Although she is strong she is more used to using her brain than her muscle.

She is over three and a half stone now so i think i made the right decision!

Diesel is obviously strong but doesn't pull, well unless you've got his tuggy then be prepared to have your arm yanked out of it's socket:lol: He's very good with boundaries and tries oh so hard to please.

I'm not allowed to post pics of my staffy girl (but she looks a bit like Diesel, only bigger and a bit darker :) ).

ETA Love all the pics. I was a bit concerned when we got A because she is so big and strong (19 and a bit kilos and that's after losing weight). But she's pretty good on the lead now and I use a canny collar which really helps.

If we're on the bikes they both have harnesses on. She pulled my OH the other day on his bike and reached about 13MPH!
