    Question for Boxer owners

This is just a general query, please, I don't want it to turn into a debate about docking, thanks

When I was out and about today, I met a lovely lady with 2 stunning Boxers, one was older and docked, and the other 19 weeks old and with a tail, after being loved to death for a good 5 minutes or so  I got chatting briefly to the owner who said that she had noticed that the undocked pup seemed to be a different shape to the older dog, where the docked Boxer was quite heavy and muscular in front, the pup was generaly, how can I say, more balanced all over, if you know what I mean, could she be right, or was it just down the individual dog, and the pup not yet being fully grown, I wondered if anyone else had noticed this as well :?

Please, please, please don't turn this into a docking debate, I'm just curious

It is probably down to the fact that the puppy is only 19 weeks old. Boxers don't really fill out in their chest til they are a lot older. Some boxers even when adults are more leaner than others.

Yup, same as Carole and Mini!

I've got 2 undocked boys and they are *totally* different shapes and sizes, so I doubt having or not having a tail makes any difference in that regard!

Thanks guys  thats what I thought, but she seemed adamant it was because of the tail, I wasn't going to argue with her because 1, I was in a hurry, and 2, I wasn't sure

Yep, it will be down to the fact the pups is still a pup, as Carole says Boxers dont fill out till around 3 yrs old, some a little sooner , some a little later..

it could also be down to the fact of the individual lines of the dogs... some lines are heavier, some lighter ,

the tail will not have anything to do with the overall conformation of the Boxer... in saying that , some tails will be better than others.;-)

It has been noted by some that some tailed versions 'pace' more when shown whereas the docked versions didn't. This is as pups.

I don't think my tailed one is more balanced because of her tail...I have her and her bobtail litter sister, they are different type but that's their heritage where one is following the more continental bloodlines whereas her litter sister is more slow to mature and is following her English bloodlines :)
