hiya i dont have staffies, but have met a few & my uncle owned a pitbull cross staffy, and i can honestly say it was the sweetest most loving dog around kids, and anyone it loved everyone and other dogs, he lived till he was 17 and died about 7 years ago. my cousins now own a staffy Each!! there are 7 of them!! my friend also owns one and he loves everyone! lovley doggies!
hi, thanks thats nice to know. my friend has 2 staffies, one loves other dogs and one hates them and they have been brought up the same. so i suppose it can be down to luck
Ive got an american bulldog x staffy hes 10 months today and he LOVES other dogs. Any size or breed, he loves making new friends every time we go for walks...he loves people too! His two best friends are a staffy and a american bulldog! Its all down to socialization from an early age. You should let your pup play with, meet and get to know alsorts of dogs. Puppies, adults all diffrernt breeds and try to make them all pleasent meetings ie, make sure hes going to meet other friendly and well behaved dogs. Take him to socialization and obediance classes to, Socialization it the key! But bull breeds can be very strong, stubbourn and dominant so do alot of research before you get your staffy pup. They dont stay pups for long, and goin through the 'teenage stage' that mines goin through now is ALOT OFF HARD WORK! Hope this helps
My sister has had three, two which got on well with other dogs and one which didn't,however the one which didn't was easily distracted from other dogs as he was focused on his toy he used to take out with him.xxxxxxx
I have a stafford girl, and she loves other dogs, tends to be other dogs that dont like her bouncy happy nature if anything
Its so lovely to hear of the lovely dog friendly staffies people have here. Sadly where I live it is very heavily populated with Staffies who are not dog friendly. They are wonderful with all people and children but very dog aggresive and I know the vets local to me see several staffie attacks on other dogs every week and thats just the ones that go there. Out of all of them I have only met one that is truly dog friendly and a wonderful character and one that will tolerate them if they don't get all over him. A lot is down to the ownership I believe and the way they have been bred. I love staffies i must admit but I've had several bad encounters when out with my own dogs with them so am cautious when my dogs are with me. However without my dogs I can't resist giving them a fuss and getting a lovely staffie slobber.
My son has a lovely little staffie girl. She is SO playful and never gives my girls a break. I send them in one at a time to play with her when they visit because for one I think my three all at once wouldn't be fair and two because she is always the last one standing so she can wear mine out one at a time! We live 'in between' staffies, both called Rocky, but apart from hearing them bark in the garden have never met them with my dogs but am assured they are 'dog' friendly, they are both definately 'people' friendly but as I say my dogs have yet to actually meet them.
I have a staffy/jack russell cross and she LOVES every dog and person she meets (espescially an old man at the park with pockets full of gravy bones!) and will happily try to persuade any dog to play with her even if they don't want to! She plays with several staffs and staff crosses and none of them have been at all aggressive towards her, even though she can be quite dominant at times but then I suppose we could have just been lucky. One lady that I chat to at the park had her jack russell attacked by 2 staffies on leads and a lot of damage was done.
