the german shepherd breed council? or can it be a non standard dog? also what tests do female and male dogs need for breeding? thanks
I just had a look on their website and it says that you become a member of the breed council by joining one of the member clubs. The member clubs are listed here. http://www.gsdbreedcouncil.co.uk/memclub.php I wouldn't have thought you need a dog at all to join the breed clubs. So apply and see what happens. Dawn R.
You can't actually join the Breed Council as it is formed from the clubs for the breed, they put forward changes in the GSD breed standard, health issues etc The current change they are trying to get the KC to accept is to register all the non standard colours not with the colour, but simply as non standard, thus discouraging people from delilerately breeding non standard colours & being able to claim that the KC accept the colours as normal The Breed Council's aim is to improve the health of the GSD by responsible breeding You can join any GSD club, a local one would be the best idea. Before breeding all GSDs should be hip & elbow scored, the males must be tested for Haemophillia, they should of course comply with the breed standard in construction, character, colour & coat.
