How fantastic - what lovely pics! We always wanted a red and white collie, but Rosie needed a home and of course, we couldn't turn her away just cos she's a black and white sprollie!
So the 'merle' is that mottled look - lovely. And is there a connection between the merle coat and blue eyes? I know a gorgeous (what I now realise is a) blue merle and he has blue eyes and is as deaf as a post. He's just beautiful. Thansk for all the answers and pics. Rosie remains a plain old black and white sprollie - but we love her!

rosies mommy that ikle sprollie looks very naughty to me but very very cute ,it reminds me of our dylan boy when he came along ,he still trys to chew our shoes now . love to see one of her little face .

hi everyone im rachael from peterborough. my husband recentley brought the family a beautiful 10 wk old border collie. i really wanted a dog i caould work with and train plus i think they are absolutly beautiful and fascinating breed. i have just a few questionns she is my first ever dog and want to make sure im doing right by her..

what sort of ollar should she have? she has a beautiful white mane and i dont want her to loose it from a collar rubbing.

what are your tips on lead trainig her?

Bellow are a couple of pis of poppy. shes a relitively good girl took to house training briliantly hardley had any accidents. ahe is quite mischevious though althhough she has dug my borders for me in time for winter haha .

hello she is lovely just like bessey my first collie ,collar i would get her puppy collar firstly ,the others will be to big any way . she is so cute enjoy her she be big befor you know it .

With regards to the collar, I made the mistake with Max of buying him a flat leather collar. Although he looked very smart, it caught in his fur and rubbed away at his collar :-( it was never tight, but unfortunately it made the fur around his neck short. The fur has grown back now, and I have found a rolled leather collar to be fantastic for him. I only ever have a collar on him when I take him out, just in case I lose him. He is walked on a harness, and although microchipped, I just like to have that extra bit of security should he get lost.

With regards to lead training - I'm not one to talk, as Max can pull with the best of them my advice would be puppy classes! And lots of them - excellent to socialise your pup, and teach both of you a few things along the way.

I don't actually lead train my puppies, I teach them heelwork off lead at home using treats & toys a feww minutes at a time, this way they never learn to pull & walk nicely because they want to be with you & are not being compelled beacuse they are attached by a lead

I also use a rolled collar whilst they are puppies & a breakaway safety collar when they are older
