Most rescue centre`s will have a selection of such crossbreeds and similar available to choose from on a pretty much daily basis - though without the made-up `designer` names attached - nor the silly price tags ;-) HTH
These are crossbreeds that usually bred from unhealth tested parents with a high price tag & bred to make money, if you want a X breed why not go to your local all breed rescue who will have lots of crossbreeds who need rehoming
The vast majority of poodle x cocker breeders do not health test their breeding stock. As both the poodle and the cocker suffer from similar eye diseases it is imperitive that both parents are tested to prevent puppies going blind. You will be very hard pushed to find a reputable breeder of these crosses who is trying to establish them as a breed. If you are looking for a non shedding, allergy friendly breed then these are not for you. No dog can be classed as allergy friendly and 1st cross poodles all moult to some degree. Becky
The best place to look for these Xbreeds, will be the free add papers, or similar on the Internet. You wont find any reputable breeders of such Xbreeds...as usually the main objective of such xbreeds is MONEY I am afraid. Can I ask why it is you want one of these Xbreeds, if you like cockers, or poodles why not go for a pure bred of either breed, this way if you buy from a reputable breeder, you will be sure of a puppy who's parents will have been health tested for each breed. By buying a Xbreed (sorry that is what they are ) your pup may inherit some /all of the genetic problems of both breeds...don't be fooled into thinking they are healthier than a purebred, they are not, as most of the breeders of such mixes, don't bother health testing their dogs. Sorry if we are telling you things you don't want to hear, and if you still wish to own a Cockerpoo, you will have to go down the route we have given you. Good luck.
to everyone who gave me advice on cockerpoo puppies thanks only thing is it is now back to the drawing board to decide on another breed of dog we own a lovley two years old cvkc boy who is very gentle and submissive if any one has any ideas we would be grateful millie
hi thanks for the reply the reason that i did not want another cav is that i wanted to have a different breed of dog altogether as i have been in lots of close contact with spaniels of every breed al my life cause my grandad and mum were both breeders of springers for 30 years and my grandad used to have a dog boarding kennels as well in heckington near sleaford called pine warren in the 1970,s and 80,s has any one heard of it thanks millie
If you want a non shedding coat then a poodle would fit the bill but if your cavalier is quite timid it could have an adverse effect as they are quite bouncy. Another Cavalier, as has been suggested, would be great, I've no experience of the breed as an owner but they do seem to get along great with each other! Becky
Sorry posted that at the same time as you. Go for a poodle then, youcan have either a toy or a mini to go with your cav. They are great little dogs but I am a tad biased! Becky
I've seen a trend that quite a few people with Cavaliers seem to have Japanese Chins as well, so clearly they get on well together as breeds. Just a thought.
hi thanks for your reply but we may a shih tuz instead as a friend of ours has two of them one girl who is eighteen months and a little boy of 10 weeks they get on very well to gether nice to talk to other dog owners about it is so important for the family as well as for the dogs that you get it right thanks again
I have a pom, whom gets on with a lhasa ( just a bigger version of a shih really) But you need to consider the grooming side of a shih etc.
thank,s but we decided we may get a shih tzu but it is so important for the dogs that you get it right i really get upset when you here of people that dogs for a few weeks or months then get shut of them poor dogs they don,t do anything wrong it is the person that buys it that is doing wrong thanks good to talk to some one about it other than my husband
Hello and welcome to dogsey I always look on the threads with 'puppies' in them!!! I hope to be getting my new pup in 2 weeks!! He will be an English Setter, a bit big for a Cav.... I just wanted to say good luck with whichever breed you go for
Good luck with your decision. Hope you find what you want. If not, there are many many rescue's overflowing with unwanted pups this time of year, sadly
