Hi there I go beating with my working cocker and have 2 Bracco Italiano bitches that I have trained up - Ruby to a higher level and Stella is getting there!!! I have Ruby stopping within a certain distance but want to widen the distance of control. The thing about the Bracco is that if they get a scent they can go deaf and it seems to be that outside the control area I have at the moment this is what happens. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can widen this control area for her. If you could point me in the direction of a good website that would be great. Thanks. Annie PS: I only use reward based methods on my dogs so no harsh gundog control methods suggestions please. ;-)
Hi again At the moment I am using the whistle and holding out my hand (palm up facing her!). I give 2 beeps of the whistle. She's great up to 4/5 metres away. After that she wont stand; she'll return to the whistle but wont stop until she is within the 4/5 metre distance. She wont stand when she is out of this range. I want her to stand as soon as she hears the whistle and sees my signal!!! I hope I've explained it right!!! Thanks Annie
