Was that the criteria you based your search on??.. who was closest?? I travelled 7hours for my pup.. And I have been there done that with the no pup thing.. And It was heartbreaking.. considering I had waited nearly 18years to get one.. but I waited and waited,,,because those breeders had done everything with their dogs.. worked, shown both to a high standard.. and they had excellent temprements.. they also had adult dogs and had bred before.. Also the fact that you mentioned breeding this dog before you have even lived with a Malamute raises a LOT of concern... You don't know the breed or the lines of your pup so why would you want to breed a litter of pups that may not be correct or may have suspect temprements.. You don't even know how your pup is going to be.. but already you are talking of breeding it.. Again in the Mal world pets are not widely bred from.. unless you aren't in the breed to better it.. but in the breed to make money... IF you want to breed.. then PROVE the pup is a perfect example of the breed by showing it and or working it... by getting health tests done and then by breeding it... If you can do all that then maybe you won't get frowned upon for breeding..
I'm NOT going to breed I made a careless comment, which I just said in my last post. I said it had crossed my mind that was all but now seeing all the work that goes into producing a littler etc etc I just wouldn't do it. My mean worry about having Mia spayed was I was once told (and now I know this has changed) that you couldn't show a bitch if she had been spayed. I've learnt that you just have to imform the kennel club. As for showing I would love to have a go at this but it will all be new to me. But first thing is first lets see if there is a girl in the litter for me. I'm already booked in at clicker training class in September, but I'm going alonf next monday just to have a look. All I need now is Mia.
Oh and this wasn't the criteria I based my search on I had been to some other people as far as scotland. Now as I've said in another post I go round for the RSPCA and vet homes, some of the homes I went to, to view pups etc I wouldn't keep a dead body in let alone a dog. One person who had bred her Mal kept in the back garden all the time with hardly any human contact it was very cruel and in very poor condition so I reported it to the local RSPCA. Like you say maybe a bit more homework and I wouldn't have had to of done that but At least some good came out of it. That was back last year July time I think.
Vickinicks! Im sure you will make a fab owner and your mal will turn out fab! Its just a case of all avenues covered!!! Not long to go now is it?????
I don't want to ignor what you have to say, your experienced as a Mal owner and you care about your breed, maybe a little stern but you only have the breeds interests at heart and I have acted on some of your comments. It was just if you could meet me face to face you'd have a diffrent view of me but thats not to say you'd change your comments. Its hard to convay what I mean to say over a computer.
I don't doubt you will do your best by your Mal.. The eyebrows were raised over the research you say you have done ... As Tara said here.. The comments I made (apart from the breeding your pup one) were based on the research I have done and the standards I set on my own pups.. As long as you are happy with the breeders and the pup you get then thats fine..
No not long at all really till there born anyway! I shouldn't wish the summer on but I don't think we're going to have one anyway:-( . Still lots of things to get ready still our back garden still needs to be finished, having one big dog is one thing having two well thats another. We've been making our garden dog friendly and easy to clean. My husband has put an outside shower for me with warm water, it's a god send with Reef trying to get a 13 stone Neo Mastiff in the bath well it doesn't really happen we end up wetter lol. So still got lots of things to do to keep my mind off things.
I am glad to see so many people who truly do care about Mals and their welfare. But we all were First time Mal onwers at one time, so its a good thing Vickinicks found Dogsey.com since now she has a fantastic support system with all of us, so Vicki now you know once you get your puppy and if there is anything you need help with it's just a mouse click and some typing away. but once you have your mal you will definatly understand why mal onwers are so very defensive for their breed, because if one person still thinks they are worthy enough for a mal after myself or they way these other ladies feel too then they might just deserve one, but if they change their mind then in my eyes thats one less Mal in a shelter. Anyways im rambiling so please keep in touch with us on your puppy and remember we are here
