Hi, I'm new to the site and new to the breed.

Me and my girlfriend purchased our first dog together 5 weeks ago, he is a gorgeous blue, horsecoat shar-pei named Tyson (how original).

He sired from a shar-pei i've seen on this site called Sky, owned by Angie Rachael (BLUEPRINT OF TONISPADA WITH PEANDOKRY) and RICKSHAZ MISS MONEY PENNY.

He's now 13 weeks, we took him out for the first time last weekend (12 weeks - a week after his second inoculation), his personality is great, he's a right little character and keeps us chuckling throughout the day. I have read up a lot about the breed before delving into buying one and I am ultimately happy with our dog. The picture I have attached is from when he was 10 weeks old (taken on a camera phone sorry), I hope he is going to be good enough to show (comments welcome) and I am hoping to stud him if he's a good enough dog, from what vets and other people have commented he's apparently a gorgeous example of a Shar-Pei... comments are welcome and any help with what i should be looking at for us to show him in any shows would be greatly appreciated as, with all dog owners we all think our dogs are the purdiest in the world! I want to show him off.

    Regards,

    James

Here he is at about 6 weeks before we brought him home (we visited him each weekend before he was ready to be taken home at 8 weeks).

    Hello James!
Beautiful little Peiby, too young to say re: showing. However it would be nice to see a blue in the showring!
The thing is with the Sharpei, you cannot just have one as they are so addictive little dogs!

    More photo's please!...

James: You did not say where you are located as you will need to go to ring craft classes, or if you have already shown you will be able to do this yourself. Although, always better getting them used to Lot's of other dogs for the ring first!...So you need to find out where your nearest classes are. Maybe someone here will know re your area!...

I know it's too soon to say anything about showing, but what I meant is there any advice anyone can give me regarding showing and is there any provisions i can make now while he's at a young age so that in the future i might be able to show him??

If you think it would be possible.

Jules, that is a Beautiful little Poem for your Bo!...
I did one for my 'Pudding' a few years back, would you like to read it?.
Do not know if there is a Rainbow bridge thread here though.
Still finding my way round this site...

James Yes Please! More photo's of your Beautiful Peiby!...

the main thing is to get him out and about and well socialised as he will have to be happy with people [judges] looking in his mouth and running their hands over him, he has to have a correct scissor bite and a fully pigmented tongue too, then of course there is his construction, how he is made, is his front straight, does he have a dip and rise in topline etc, good luck with him and i hope if you decide to show him you enjoy your days out.
