American Bulldog pics Photos

Took some pics of our American Bulldogs today.

Bob, aged 3 and a half, 22" shoulder, approx 100lb



Doris, aged 5, 24" shoulder, 96lb



Tyrone, aged 2, 26" shoulder, 108lb



Chillie, aged 2 and a half, 24" shoulder, 90lb



Snowdrop, aged 2, 24" shoulder, 92lb

Please don't take this the wrong way but are they all the same lines because Doris and Snowdrop have a very Great Dane like head, one looks like a staffy cross and Chilie looks like the only I would class in anyway as a 'bulldog'?

American Bulldogs are generally in 2 types. The Johnson which is known as the 'Classic' bully. They have a shorter muzzle and are always a bigger dog. The other type being a Scott, which is known as the 'Standard' performance type. They are smaller than the Johnson and have a slightly longer muzzle. The Johnson is usually wrinklier too. Modern American Bulldogs are a combination of the two and are known as a Hybrid. Another bloodline is the Hines which is slightly less common than the Johnson and the Scott.

In my opinion, and I may be wrong here, Id say that :
Bob is a Johnson ?
Doris is a Hines ?
Tyrone is a Johnson ?
Chillie is defiantly a Johnson ?
Snowdrop is a ??? Not sure, maybe a Hines? Defiantly not a Johnson.

This is Chota, he is a staff X, 6 years old, 20" shoulder, 60lb, had him from a Staff Rescue 5 years ago.

Chota and Moko (9 years old, Patterdale/Westie/Jack Russell) our little terrier terror! She rules the roost and doesn't take any messing off any of the bulldogs!

The guy who owns my female American Bulldogs sire, also owns and exhibits Lakeland Terriers they don't stand any messing off his Bulldogs either!
