American bulldog - is there a breed club?

I know someone who needs to rehome their American Bulldog puppy but the breeder hasn't given them a contract and apparently 'doesn't really want it back'.

So is there a breed club for Britian? I know they're not KC registered, but is there a breed club? I just feel that they'd be better off going through a breed club welfare if there is one than through this breeder...

Otherwise they'll sell the pup themselves but I know that breed clubs have more experience in finding the right homes, particularly for big strong dogs such as these.

    Thanks

There is this one, which does`nt have a rescue link but has a message board link and might be able to advise via the main Club contact ? :

There is also this one which might be worth contacting :

And a fair few breed specific possibilities to try here under `Other Information`

I dont know any of them, don`t know anything about them other than a quick read of the the home pages of the first two links, so I`m not vouching for them in any way, those are just links I found on an initial google search but hopefully the right sort of help might be among them :smt001

As far as I know there is no breed club for the American Bulldog, although I do know that Colin from Bluebloods whom you have in the first link - may be able to point you in the right direction I know Endangered Dogs Defence & Rescue occasionally help find the American Bulldog homes - whom can be found here http://www.endangereddogs.com/ From what I hear they are very, very good.
    Hope this helps :)

Can I just ask why the pup needs rehoming, or is it a personal reason?

I own an american bulldog cross, and a friend of mine owns 7 american bulldogs. They are his life, he is just starting to show them too. 3 of his american bulldogs were rescue dogs.

He would be happy to take on another pup...

There is a American Bulldog rescue but they are absolutely over run with dogs, your friend would be better off advertising the dog there self at least then you can vet the homes for yourself.

Has anyone got a Bulldog ? How trainable are they ?

Also just wondering, as i want a largeish dog who can be trained for security, and while more importantly wonderful companions and an protential running partners , if an American Bulldog would be suitable ?

Others breeds i am considering are:
    Dobermans
    Rottiweilers
    Cane Corso

American bulldogs properly bred. I mean not nervous wrecks as some seem to be are in the top 3 guard dogs. Excellent working ability and a great family companion
