Bandog ---------------- Here is some info from fellow Dogwebber Barbara: A Bandog/Bandogge is any type of mastiff crossed with any type of bull breed. The word comes from the saxon word banda for chain. It was used to refer to watch dogs who were chained up by day and let loose at night to guard. The most common mixes are Neapolitan Mastiffs to APBT's or AB's, but any mastiff to any bull breed can be considered a Bandog. They are bred to be a more agile protection dog than purebred mastiffs that have had their working qualities bred out of them by kennel clubs.

What lovely looking dogs! I have never seen either type of breed, in the fur yet! I think your Bandog is a lovely looking beast!
Hi, Thanks for your feedback. I'm really glad you like the dogs. I thought i'd post some pictures of my dogs because all you tend to see of these sort of dogs on the web is the Pit X Neo type, which were very much the norm in the late 80's. But with the legislation against the APBT in 91 pretty much wiped this breed strain out in UK. So the Bandog as a type has been evolving all the time same as it has for hundreds of years, including new breeds to produce a stable, fit, working dog not restrained by KC breed standards. All of my dogs in the pictures were brought up around a children & animals (Chickens,Ducks,Horses) and have been a lot less troublesome than other "straight" breeds that I own.
Great dogs you have there MamF. Like the look of Tonka very much he has a great head & looks nicely put together, the pup reminds me of a Great Dane pup I saw a while back just around the mouth and eyes. Laura
WOW !!!!!! Great Looking Dogs ---- I love big Dogs ... Tonka, Chance and Ruby Doo could be mistaken for Boerboels. As the Boerboel still varies in looks, at this point in time... More Pics Please. Ashley...
