I absolutely love, this breed. They make excellent companions, and are loyal, intellegent, and have plenty of courage. I just wanted to share this thread with Labrador Retriever people. Post some Lab pics if you got em. Thank you

Hi, these are my two.
Molly is the older one, she is 18 months now.
Nudge is the wee chocolate one and she is 18 wks old.
They get on really well together.
Molly is a gun dog whereas Nudge is more of a show girl.



Do you have one of your own? would love to see pics if you do.
(sorry just found your other posts. My pup chewed and ate stones when we first got her, but repeated rewards for now doing it have paid off and she is really good now.)

I have 2 labs, a yellow and a chocolate. And had a yellow die in july. I also have a cocolate that lives next door to the left and a yellow to the right.

I agree they are wonderful dogs and would not be without one, but they will eat anything.

This is my old lad, Ben, he was 13 years old in September.
I have had him since he was 2 years old and handed in to our rescue. He's a lovely old lad who spends most of his time sleeping. He is very frail now and his legs aren't too good but we just take things one day at a time. He loves his food though - typical Labrador.

I'm new to the site and have submitted an introduction thread but here are some photos of my 6 month old Trevor for any Lab owners who may be interested




He's been an adorable puppy, very well behaved and easy to train (knows 8 one word commands and has been house trained since 5 months). I can't wait for him to reach his full adult size though as his breeder and our vet give every indication that he's going to be a big lad. I'm adding cod liver oil to his feeds to improve his coat (had a bit of dandruff for a while) which is doing the trick but have heard that a raw egg will be beneficial too. Any thoughts?
Also, do any Lab owners use the Acme no. 11 dog whistle for training? I've been told this model is pitched perfectly for Labs and it certainly gets Trevor's attention over my ineffectual attempts at warbling to him on our walks. Would appreciate some links or advice about whistle training if anyone has anything.

Ooh, I love Labs. I have been researching them and lines for some time now... I took my next step and adopted a lab this Feb. His name is Beau ; he is 8 months old and is just an absolute joy !

He's beautiful! Love his Scotland flag collar tag! How old? I recognised you from the post you submitted to My Introductions for me (thanks for your welcome). He's a puppy like my Trev, but subtly different. I have loved Tevor as a puppy but can't wait for him to be full grown. Have always dreamed of living with a huge black lab and I think my lad is going to be a big fella. Although my profile says I live in Surrey, I'm actually a Geordie feeling very far from home. Trevor was bred from working gun dog stock in Northumberland so he's a Geordie too at heart (and I've trained him with a North East accent so he only understands flat vowels ) On that subject, do you think dogs can differentiate between accents? Would your Charlie understand a non-scots person giving commands and do you think dogs have accents at all?

I looked up your profile and learned about your mountaineering activities. I have some friends who volunteer for the Northumberland Mountain Rescue Service and they have a black lab (also Charlie) who they take with them on exercises. A member of the volunteer search party once fell into a bog whilst out on an exercise in the Cheviots and Charlie found her, wouldn't leave her alone in the bog (despite his owners repeated calls to him) and stayed with her, snuggling in to her to keep her warm, licking her face and barking to alert the team to his 'find' and all this despite the fact he hadn't ever been trained as a rescue dog and was only out for the walk with his people! Needless to say, he was quickly signed up as a full working member and was trained accordingly. Gets to wear a cool fluorescent jacket now!

Cool.. the guy I used to climb with was a member of the Braemar mountain rescue.... seen a few crazy things in the mountains... ill equiped/skilled people etc

Never been up a real mountin myself (few craggy hills in the Lake District and Rothbury) but last time my husband and I were back home we took Trevor to some Roman Wall ruins in Northumberland (Housesteads, Chesters and an ancient Iron Age Fortress near Humshaugh) which were quite high up and constituted a vigorous climb and bit of a muddy fell walk. Trevor in his element! Met some cattle and he was interested but at ease and didn't bother them at all. Even got his face licked by a friendly cow. Love the countryside back home, so rugged and wild and so different from our local walks down south. Spent a fantastic holiday in rural Scotland last year (pre-Trevor but will return and introduce him to proper walks).

Haven't done it yet put looking forward to the day I can take Trevor to a Northumbrian beach and let him experience the sand and the sea and the biting wind off the North Sea Coast.

I have three boootiful labbies that i've pestered everyone with pics before, but i'll still do it again!!! lol

Here's Chloe first. She'll be 6 next month and has just had her second and last litter! She's from show lines and does some showing herself but her mother and grandmother were working gundogs on a farm which could explain why she usually comes back from a wlak with a bunny I wont show you those pics though!!!

And here's my Riley. Meg's sister. He does nothing really, he has no use nor point in life, he's just there He's ma baby though!! He knows exactly ONE trick, giving his paw!! I've tried teaching him others but all he does is give me a paw So i thought it was only right to put a pic of him doing his favourite trick...

Sounds good I'm lucky coz I'm 10 mins from the beach and Jake loves it. Charlie hasn't really had much time there yet coz it's been a bit cold lately but I'm sure he will. Also only an hours drive from the jighlands so I'm kinda spoiled really.
