Thank you so much Juli. Love all the Beagles, you really are clever on that pc! xx (And the pic of Tikva too).
I hope you have a lovely day - and I'm glad you like the Beagles! I can't take credit for the picture though - I just found it while hunting for a suitable picture!
Very true Juli. I had my birthday meal with friends on Thursday. Pictures were taken, and Tally is looking at a plate in every one that was taken in the restaurant. In this one she can't even control her tongue. Not sure why we look all at sea.
Happy belated birthday Carole. I have been checking in, but only reading posts that I got an alert for, as I’d commented on the thread. The training thread looks interesting, I will try and catch up on that later.
Give Tally a big hug for me! There's a large potential case of beagle abuse here. Waiting for the judge to decide whether to assign a special prosecutor. Fingers and paws crossed. P.S. the linked article describes some of the abuse so you may not want to read it... https://isthmus.com/news/news/ridglan-farms-accused-of-the-wholesale-abuse-of-dogs/
Good grief. How much evidence do they need to set up a prosecutor? It sounds like some of those carrying out the atrocities have admitted to it. Such cruelty should incur closure and those involved jailed for having a hand in this
I agree. It appears that the original case, against two animal rights advocates who illegally entered and stole two beagles, was dismissed right before trial because the facility didn't want the attention. That the DA agreed to their request seems prejudicial. This decision is to determine if that trial should move forward. The defendants want to be tried in order to bring attention to the animal cruelty. So far, the facility is not even being charged with animal abuse. I suspect they want this case to go away quietly because it will put into legal evidence the abuses they've committed - opening them up for prosecution.
I couldn't bear to read all of this. It is too disgusting. I have forwarded the article to 'The Camp Beagle' - a group that is fighting for the cessation of testing on Beagles in this country - they have been camping by the roadside outside MBR Beagles in Cambridgeshire for 3 years. (Camp Beagle is a breakaway group that concentrates on education, and protest at the major site of experimentation in Huntington - there are always schisms). Three vanloads of 4 month old Beagle puppies has been despatched for toxicology testing this last week alone. It really is disgusting, they say they train them - NO, they force them to endure. If they don't die, they are bled to death and their organs harvested. Every part of their little lives is about profit. They call it life sciences, more like death sciences, and this USA owned company has been trading under various names for 50 years. Poor babies - and the wild caught monkeys too.
I can't like your post because it makes me ill to think of these poor beagles. I'm hoping this leads to prosecution of the facility and closure. I can't believe this type of treatment is allowed in this day and age. There are so many humane alternatives for testing these days, yet these companies persist. Sometimes humans really suck!
The govenment bodies that provide the funding must share in the blame too. Our Home Office does not enforce standards for animal care in research establishments, and seem to be able to pick and choose which requests for information that they respond to. The general public are under the illusion that this dirty trade finished years ago, hence the importance of outreach. So much of the toxicology testing isn't research, it is repeated over and over, just to fulfil export regulations. The end has to come, I hope I live long enough to see it happen.
I agree. This case shows that. Rather than prosecute the tresspassers and let this abuse come to light, the DA's office is protecting the facility by dismissing the case. I really hope this judge requires the case to proceed.
The life a Beagle should have - that's when she's not practising her sniffing. Tally the scenthound had a change of scene yesterday, and, (just), managed to qualify for Crufts 2025! The cruel diet continues ....
What a face!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go Tally! We're so proud of you! And don't you worry about that cruel diet, Tornado-dog will steal some goodies and send them your way.
