    Orphaned Anatolian Shepherd Needs Home.

My neighbor Joon was killed in an accident March 18. Joon was a good person who helped me find homes for four orphaned , feral kittens, she also helped some of the elderly people in our apartment building. Joon helped many animals in her life and her dream was to have a small farm in the country where she could surround herself with rescued animals. Joon's dog Shiloh, an Anatolian Sheperd she loved more than anything, has been taken to Tucumcari NM Animal Control where his days are probably numbered. Dogs rarely last more than a week at animal control. Given the temperament of this breed and the dog having no contact with people other than Joon, it will probably be difficult or impossible for them to find him a home. If anyone wants to give poor Shiloh a second chance at life please contact Tucumcari Animal Control.

I'm so sorry on the loss of your friend, Joon, and Shiloh's situation.

I would recommend contacting any and every rescue organization, even in neighboring countries, to try to save Shiloh.

Unfortunately this forum does not get enough traffic to be of much use in finding Shiloh a home.

I would contact the Anatolian breed club -
The Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America. It is likely that they have a rescue co-ordinator. They do have a website.

It might also be worth checking that Joon hasn't made provision for her dog in her will. Most people involved in rehoming animals will have considered what should happen if they predeceased their own pet.
    Best wishes for Shiloh.

Most all shepherd or herding dog rescues will find a foster home to ease him into a new life. He won't do well in a shelter situation. No shepherd does well in that environment. Make sure to tell these rescues he is in a life threatening situation. You can also go on Petfinder type 'German shepherd rescue' and get information that way. Contact shelters who know of other rescues if none listed will take him. See that he gets out of there fast he'll be very very miserable in there like a PTSD.
