Hey there I have a 3 year old French bulldog. Within the last few months he has started to lose hair on both sides of his body in exactly the same spots. The vet said it was flank alopecia but after a food allergy test I found out he was allergic to beef and lamb. I'm making sure his food is made only with chicken and rice I am just wondering if anyone has experienced this with their frenchies and if there are any home remedies I can try. Thank you
Symetrical hair loss is usually hormonal in origin, and can usually be reversed with medication. I would request a full blood profile, and take it from there.
Hello, I agree with @CaroleC I don't think the hair loss is an allergy thing. Is would also suggest for you to blood test your frenchy. Jane Xx
Hello Amar, Well ringworm can sometimes cause hair loss. You should definitely ask your vet about this because ringworm is caused by a fungus which is contagious and can pass onto humans from dogs. Depending on the severity of the fungus it can be cured by worming tablets for the dog. Make a note of asking your vet. Jane xx
What I meant was the complete full Thyroid panel, not just the one section that is usually done in a normal blood test, because most doctors - human and veterinarian - typically do not run a full thyroid blood panel. https://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/thyroid-panel/tab/test/
