Housebroken dog pooping on new dog bed

    Good afternoon,

We have 2 dogs and they are both housebroken, or so we thought.

Jager, our neutered male, has decided the best place to poop is on a new dog bed we just bought.

Our other dog still does business outside. A bit of a back story is that Jager is the lower dog on the dog hierarchy and our female, Koko, is the boss.

My husband is wondering if this is his way of "owning" something. Anyway, any advice is welcome on how to get him to stop this behavior.

On a side note, we have decided to wait to get a Mastiff pup until our leadership skills are improved.

    Thanks!

    Helidale and Toedtoes like this.
Is his old bed still serviceable? If so, giving him his old one back is the simplest solution.

It sounds like he's scenting up the new bed to make it feel and smell more like his own

With Chris' comments, you might take a clean towel and rub it all over Jager. Then rub it all over the new bed. It may transfer enough scent to convince him it's his bed.

Or maybe take the cover off of his old bed, if it’s removable, and put it on, or on top off, his new bed, long enough for him to take to the new bed

Is he doing it during the day, or through the night?
