Hello everyone, I'm new here and I decided to join because I always google stuff about my frenchie and this forum always shows up filled with lovely people and amazing advices! My name is Giorgia and I have a 3 months old Frenchie puppy named Kobe. He's totally fine, has been through Giardia and hookworms so he's a rough one. However, despite being healthy he has random episodes of loud stomach noises in the morning, he refuses food until he eventually throws up clear opace liquid or passes a firm stool with this said liquid on the side (not mucus, it's more of a sticky liquid). After he gets rid of this liquid one way or another he wants to eat, he plays and he's fine for the rest of the day. Usually happens once a week/once every two weeks and it's totally random as we are always feeding him the same food (grain free) and we always look after him 24/7 (working from home at the moment) so there is no way he's eating something he's not supposed to. Also, I already asked 3 vets about this and they have no idea what's going on and other than that, he's healthy and gaining weight so it's not a major concern at the moment. Plus, it's not bilious vomit syndrom as the liquid he throws up (or sometimes poops out) is not yellow and he never goes more than 6/7 hours between last meal of the day and breakfast of the following day. Anyone has had a similar experience or knows what's going on?
Hi! Dog vomiting is usually nothing to worry about, as I have been told by several vets. But you can switch to stomach sensitive food for sometime and see if that makes a difference. You can find several options on websites like Petcarerx or Chewys.
I had same problem with one of my gsd’s, my vet explained that the throwing up is due to stomach acid building up and making her nauseous, then after she throws up her stomach starts growling because it's empty, as she doesn't feel good she doesn't feel like eating. It's basically a "chain reaction" of events. I found that splitting her food to 3 meals a day helped along with a good Probiotic helped. But wouldn’t hurt to have a word with your vet.
I think I might be tempted to try a change of food. I would look for a good quality, high protein food, but maybe try one that is with rice, and has a different source of protein that he hasn't had before. If he is on a chicken or beef variety now, try something like lamb, fish or rabbit. If he likes it, see how he goes on for about a month - don't swap and change.
My vet recommended a limited ingredient food. We’re using Crave lamb and it resolved my pups vomiting.
