Hi guys im new to the group my name is lisa i own a 10 year old dogue de Bordeaux with end stage heart failure an a 5 year old frenchie. The readon for this post is regarding my frenchie im at my wits end with her. Im disabled an deal with chronic pain an have mobility issues my frenchie from a pup has always messed in her bed an i mean its horrendous every morning her bed is swimming in pee an has at least 2 poos. She goes out regularly but still pees in my house an im slipping in it causing me more pain. She has been at the vets recently with acute kidney failure but kidneys were flushed an then she got pancreatitis which has got better. Her bloods are still showing high kidney levels an high liver an vets are flummoxed what it can be she has also dropped alot of weight. Im really struggling to cope with this mess in her bed an in the house its constant an im just ready cry all the time i cant always clean up after her an im very house proud but it seems the more she does in her bed the more she likes it. Please any advice if u experienced any of this would be a big help
It is possible she has Epi, what tests did your vet do and did your vet advise special food and enzymes to give.
Hi Lisa, I'm sorry to read that you are having so many problems with your dogs - you are certainly having more than your share of hard luck! Incontinence can have so many causes - from physical to hormonal - I do hope that your vets can come up with the reason, and be able to do something about it soon. She is still fairly young, and if they are making no headway, maybe a referral to a specialist might help. Thinking what I would do if this was one of my own dogs. I would invest in a suitably sized puppy run with a gate to allow you easy access. You could use a plastic sheet as a protective base, - easily mopped - and use puppy pads, or even just newspapers, as an absorbant layer on the top. She could have a wipeable plastic bed to sleep in, lined with something like old towels, which could go straight in the washing machine when wet. An alternative would be the shredded teabag type of paper bedding, which makes a nice nest, but is also disposable. The downside is that it comes as a bale, and you would need to store it! Yes they advised special diet unfortunately nothing seems to agreeing with her other than chicken an rice im going to stick with this for abit to get some weight back on her then try again special foods. They just done bloods in house an sent some off as well that all came back clear. She also is circling at some points through the day like walking round in circles im making a note of when she does it an ive even recorded her im thinking maybe neurological i know she not right at all looks like i dont feed her when she drops the weight its like near enough over night
Thank u for ur reply an ideas unfortunately towels are not a option as she trys to eat them then an im concerned of her getting a blockage. She likes to eat anything her poo other dogs poo stuff off the pavement u name it she trys eat it.
Omg thanku just read it an it does seem to match what is happening i will be on to my vet monday. Have u experienced a dog with this?
