Hi guys my grandparents just got a new dog. I think it is a crossbreed between Dachshund and Jack Russell. What do you think? Thank you for your help <3
He is definitely cute but as it is difficult to be sure of what mix he is. What makes you think he is a cross Dachshund/Jack Russell - did your grandparents see/know of either dam or sire of the pup? I have a cross Dachshund/Minpin but I cannot really see any Dachshund in that pup as my little girl showed obvious Doxie looks at that age.
Have you any more pictures? Front face, and standing preferably. To me, his head looks too chunky for a JRT/Dachsie. The ears may be a bit on the small side, but I'm not sure whether I'm seeing trace of Beagle - but perhaps that's just because I'm Beagle fixated! A Wisdom Panel DNA test will tell you for sure.
The only sign that gave me thinking about doxie is his long body but you cant really see on that photo Is it posible to be Jack Russell Terrier? Im not a dog expertise at all haha
Jack Russell's come in so many varieties these days - yes, it's possible. The dark tricolour colouring is unlikely to be JRT though. The second picture doesn't really help. He looks a sweet, well-reared puppy, enjoy him, and post some more pictures as he grows up.
A lovely pup but long-ish body or not, I honestly can not see any Doxie in him. This is a year-old half Dachshund/Minpin cross, weighing then ~6 kilos and smaller than she looks in that picture, but she is definitely a half cross, her dam being a standard Dachshund, sire being a Minpin. Both red as Tikva is.
Sorry Zan but I just cannot see any Doxie in your lovely pup. This is my girl Dachshund/Minpin at ~two-years-old Approx three-years-old This is Tikva. She is now just over 4 years and even though she is only 50% Dachshund, it is obvious to anyone who knows the breed that she is a Hetzi Doxie. A half Doxie. And she looks more like her 100% standard Dachshund dam the older she gets, although smaller and with her Minpin sire also showing.
