Staffies and water. General Chat

my friends staffie loves water but can't swim! her front legs are so wide set, when she doggy paddles the water doesn't push under her keeping her afloat like other dogs it just goes out to the side and she sinks! they have to keep her on the lead near any ponds etc or she tries to jump in and they have to waid in and rescue her.

when we first had stella she didnt like water at all if it was raining we couldnt get her outside she wouldnt go near a puddle but now she jumps in every puddle.





even swam in the sea (well she sank first time lol i dont think she had swam before )
and it tired her out lots

i hav a 7month old staffy n he hates the rain n water but wen its hot he's lying down n rollin round on the bank on a river somewhere. He don't go in 2 deep tho.

Greg loves playing in the river but only up to his depth he wont really swim! He loves his bath! Once I was on the PC and running a bath, Heard a big splash and Greg had jumped in!!!!

I have managed to tempt them in for a paddle to chest height, but there is NO WAY they will pick their feet up and actually swim.

I do know the odd staffy that loves to swim but i cant say mine does.

She absolutely hates rain let alone swimming and you should see her in the bath ;-)

Oh God the bath!.
You can`t mention that word in our house without the dogs tails tucking in and heads droppin.
I`ve got a mate who gets in the shower with her Dobi.
I didn`t ask of she was naked or not, I `m not sure I wanted to know!.

stella started to go in when we went in with her and if she had a toy and just forgot about it
after that we cant stop her going in all water everywhere lol

Missy is scared of water WHEN she feels like it .

my girl wont even go out in rain. she hates it she just lies on her bed hiding her head if its raining we have to drag her and make her walk then she trie hiding any where she can out of the rain.
