Breed size Questions

Hi there, I'm new to forum. My family have just welcomed our newest member; Finnley. He is a rescued pup. Dumped at 5 weeks And fostered until he found a new home with us. He is believed to possibly be Woulfhound cross Bullarab, but we can't be sure. He's 16 weeks old and is 19 inches to his top shoulder and he is like a young pony. Long and lanky. He has wirey coat coming through, and a beard coming, although hard to see in the photos. Can anyone tell me how tall he'll grow or see anything else in his breeding? He is really smart!!! Loyal and gentle and comforts people when they're sad. I feel like the luckiest person on the planet to come across this guy. He is incredible!

Thank you I am in Australia. I should mention as well that the wire coming through is long - 1.5 inches and that he holds his ears up and back. He's so gentle.

Hi Sharon, welcome to the forum.
Looking at his head shape, my first thought was that he might be a Great Dane cross. The wire coat could come from a Wolfhound, Deerhound or Lurcher parent. He looks as if he is going to be big and beautiful. He is a lucky boy to have met his perfect match.

Hard to say for sure.

Keep us posted though as I'd like to see how he matures.

I do see Dane in some of the pics.

If it helps 20"-25" at 4 months is about right for a Dane and 23" to 25" for an Irish Wolfhound. Obviously these figures can vary quite a bit.

Rather Great Dane x Wolfhound/Deerhound - Wolfhound/Deerhound x Bull breed or even a Lurcher he's lovely

He looks similar to a lurcher I know, who's a pod x mastin (he's from Spain).

I'd believe some sort of sighthound x molosser/bull, see what breeds seem common in your area for a general idea to narrow it down, perhaps.
I'd just call him a lovely lurcher

I have never had a large dog - Pereg was medium size and the largest I had ever had. Not that I am into very small dogs, even though I used to breed Griffons in a previous life and they are classed as toy dogs, but have somehow ended up with a not very big mini monster.

I love lurchers though and had things been different I would choose a lurcher every time.

Thank you, yep, that's the general concensous. I've been checking out some images online, it does fit. He was dumped in rural nsw lurchers are used as working dogs but can and do, very easily fall into the wrong hands... I'm so pleased he fell into mine!!!! He's got a beach to run and kids to play with and a schnauzer to terrorise lol!

I'd never heard of the breed,(x site hound) I used to live in rural Australia, but now on the coast, I saw many hunting dogs that were very starving, they used to get out and in to my bins. I called the animal rescue often! But I didn't realise the breeding behind them, only that they were hungry and scared this guys much bigger so he's obviously been mixed with a larger parent. I've had boxers in the past and schnauzers. We have Rupert too - he just lost his life long companion which is why we wanted to add to our clan. This is Rupert

Couch potatoes!!!

My little horror is currently on the couch with a chew-stick and threatens me if I dare go near her. [Breakfast is not until 10am and it is only 8.15am].

The couch, which was bought new before mini-booga arrived, is now - well you do not want to know what a skinny 6 kilos can do to it. No, not destroy it, but squished it beyond recognition.

Please give your lovely couch potatoes tummy tickles and ear twiddles from me.
