    Malemutes and Horses!?

Do any of you understand what exactly is the strange relationship between horses and malemutes?
I just dont get what it is about horses which freaks my dog out so much!

last summer, he literally RUINED a nice scottish singer's folk song
at the philly folk festival by screaming at the top of his lungs
when a horse trotted by on the Perkiomen trail.

can anyone shed some insight into this phenomenon of horses freaking out malemutes?

Sorry, I can only say that my naughty Beagle's take no notice at all of horses. I could understand if they were Foxhounds, but Beagles are followed on foot - so why are they unphased? We do have a couple of Malamutes that use the same bridle path that we walk on, they can be a little unruly with other dogs, but I have not heard of any incidents with the horses.
