Well the Japanese used them to babysit their children whilst the parents worked in the fields! I think just like any breed if not raised right then they can be dangerous.
Since I have just posted about my akita because I'm nervous about her being around the baby I'm expecting, this is very reassuring. Beautiful dog too
So sweet! Our boy was born with a love for children. Our son is big (13) so they play like litter mates and it's so cute but if he sees a small child or baby he whines to see them and is very gentle. He seems to know who/when to play rough and who to be gentle with. I think in general Akitas love children but like all dogs they're a case by case basis.
