Hi, In my environment I see my friends and unknown people who have a japanese dog. After a while I became interested about this subject and I read some articles about this. The Owners of Japanese dog can post more information about this, please. My favorites are : Akita Inu and Shiba Inu. About that dog breeds I found something on article: Japanese dog breeds, but are poor informations. Please help me to choose my future dog. Thank you very much.
Before buying or adopting a Japanese breed think about your lifestyle, will one of these breeds fit in with your lifestyle if so, then you need to decide what size of dog would suit you best large, medium or small dog.

Having owned two Akitas I would not recommend them for a novice owner, they are lovely dogs, but very hard work and not an easy breed to own. They look fantastic and are the most adorable looking puppies, but quite a lot end up in rescue at about 18 months of age when they start to throw their weight about (and there's quite a bit of it) through having had no boundaries set or training. Temperaments vary but on the whole are very intelligent and extremely loyal they have very strong personalities are headstrong and tend to think for themselves and have a high prey drive, not really people-pleasers or pushovers to train, they wonder what's in it for them and don't respond well to harsh handling, they get bored very quickly and don't do balls or fetch, might the first time you throw it, but if you throw it away again you obviously don't want it! Although aloof with strangers mine were fine with people but not good with strange dogs, after they reached around 10mths old I couldn’t let them off lead unless in an enclosed area, although well trained their recall could be unreliable’ if something runs they will chase, if its a small dog its still prey. Whilst the Gsd’s bark at everything, my Akita’s would watch and wait to see if anything is worth barking at. Oh and be prepared to go through Hoovers like they are going out of fashion as they moult really badly, when blowing their coat they will FILL your house, car and lungs with fine undercoat that will float around and get everywhere including places the dogs have never been,hard floors look like scenes from a Western film, with tumbleweed blowing everywhere. Having said all that I loved them dearly and they were wonderful companions. Picture of my boys .
