Oh WOW - Cash is looking so grown-up now - he is absolutely stunning! And like Barbara I also cannot resist a soggy doggy, especially one who has obviously been enjoying himself!
Wow he looks stunning - love the first photo and what a wonderful thread for anyone interested in the breed. I'll have to get back around to updating the dog breed photos soon! That one of him in the snow is super, hint hint lol
Thanks everyone. He turned a year old at the end of January, and yes, it has gone crazily fast. But I'm not complaining, as I'm eager to see his 'mature' self Although still got a fair while for that yet! We have done about 4 shows in total and our next one is in March. He's not really had any truly impressive wins or anything, although he did win his Junior class a few weeks back. But I think it's really hard with a rare breed as many judges have never judged them before and have no idea what they're looking for. He had his first breed class a couple of weeks back, but placed 3rd out of three lol. We have had a couple of Working Trial training sessions, but he's not up to a good enough standard yet to join regular weekly classes, so we're mainly practising at home and that may well be something we re-visit when he's slightly older. We have however just started Rally classes and I'm hopeful that will be something we can excel at once over the initial excitement and distractions etc. He has so much potential, it's just me who has to bring out the best in him. I'm an eager learner, but I just don't want to let Cash down. Behaviour wise he can be somewhat reactive towards other dogs while on lead so that's something we continue to work on too. But he's a big softie really. Loves falling asleep with his head in your hands and if you sit on the floor, well, you're going to end up with Cash in your lap! Another pic of him in a very common position lol
Why do large dogs think they are lap dogs, the Rottweiler that's going Crufts on Friday still thinks he can sit on your lap x Cash is beautiful xx
Nearly 14 months old We've finished our first Rally course now and will go on to the 2nd course in April. Still hoping to find a Working Trials club. After our last 1:1 session we was advised to work on a solid retrieve and more control, but it's hard to know whether you're on the right track without a trainer helping you learn......
Lovely action photo, he is looking great. Re. Working Trials, it is a really great sport, but does need dedication to succeed. I'm afraid that these days my contribution to the trials world is frying bacon and brewing drinks, - though Little Ed will be old enough for a Veteran Stake in May! I think your nearest societies would be East Anglia, (no personal knowledge about them), there's also Iceni to the south of you, (believe they do have regular training sessions), and Banbury (a friendly club, also with training classes), to the west. If you Google, 'Working Trials World', you will find the most info. on trials in one place. Sorry if I'm telling you what you already know!
Thank you Carole. I actually haven't contacted any of those clubs as I've been contacting smaller local trainers so definitely ones to look into. Would be nice to join a 'beginners' class or something.
