Never heard of them migrating before, I will be having a word with my Vet to find out if this is true or not.

Yes they can migrate, the problem is some people who put them in (even vets) put them in the wrong place "the scruff of the neck" they are supposed to go in between the whither.. ( Shoulder blades) this way the chip is less likely to migrate, but when it goes in the scurf , gravity can pull them out of place.

My Bandits ended up in his chest.

On getting pet passport for Kyra the vet couldn’t find her chip, she had to be x-rayed but it wasn’t there so he put another in, so not only do they migrate they can come out altogether

All my dogs are micro chipped, Angel because I chose too and Tigger was because he was from a rescue and Diva was also just had to get chip updated. If I agree with MC is another question. When I got my first staffie in 2004 I was told to get her chipped so if she ever got lost or stolen you would be reunited. Yeah great I thought fab idea. But in 2005 she did get stolen and no I never got her back. Little did I no that vets don't scan for MC if you brought a dog in, they only scan for a chip if you bring in a lost dog. I was horrified because I was under the impression they scanned every dog, this was also the case at Battersea Dogs home. Sometimes they don't have the time to scan or if the chip has moved they just don't bother, but this was in 2005/2006 that I was going to Battersea, the policy there may have changed now but this is what I was told when she first went missing. This is why you have to go down there and look at the lost dogs every 7 days. So if I'm honest im not sure if it's a good thing or not?

On August 8, I adopted my seven year old Beagle from a local shelter. Before releasing him to me, their rules required him to be chipped. This is the first dog I've owned that had been microchipped and I think it is a good idea because a few months ago I saw a picture on Facebook of a beautiful Beagle whose owner had been found because he had been chipped.
