He looks fab Apache. His coat looks wonderful. He is looking more and more like Helena54's Zena. Do they have any common relatives?

Thanks Shane, he has been on my Christmas list for the past 10 years, but the wait was worth it. :)

You guys are making it really difficult for me to decide what dog to get next.:017:

I really like how these GSD's (Zena & Kodi)with the long hair around the face look.
It's just so difficult to know where to buy from though

Kodi was the only rough coat in the litter, so my choice was easy. I had previously looked at Shekinah as they specialize in long coats, but ended up buying Kodi from a friend of the family who was local to us.

Thank you for the link, i've sent an enquiry but I'm guessing they have quite a high price tag.

I had decided to get a Border Collie but reading this thread has got me seriously considering another GSD, my last one died aged 14, four years ago.

I also like to go walking late at night and you always feel safe with a GSD. My last one was a big softie, scared of her own shadow but she looked the part and nobody would have messed with her.

(sorry, i've taked the thread of topic a little)

Just digging around some old threads.

Is Kodi still as dark Barry? Be great to see some new photos.

Zak's coat is really interesting. He has definitely got darker with age, but in certain lights (usually when the sun is shining through the coat) he looks a bit lighter!

Yogi's coat has got lighter and in summer his black saddle really recedes. He is always wet too - hence the bedraggled look

Flame is now 12 years 5 months and doing well. Her coat got lighter too - as was to be expected.

Hopefully there will be some new GSD owners on here who can add their dogs with breeding and, most importantly, photos of the thread :D

Sorry i am a bit late with this Kirsty, I have been in the US for the past 3 weeks and have only just seen your post here.
Zak looks splendid and as you say, has indeed gone very dark. Lovely to see old Flame again too, she was a stunner in her youth, be nice to see some early photos of her again. And those photos of Yogi having fun in the mud and grime; reminds me of my winters in the forest with Kodi. I spend so much time cleaning him up to come into the house and then end up doing it all again a few hours later, but he so loves the forest trails. (Typical GSD)
His coat seems to be much the same to me as regards colour and tone, but he is in lovely condition and his plush coat doesn't shed anywhere near as much as my previous short coats.
Here are a couple of recent photos of him, he is now 2 years old.

Oh wow a half brother to my wonderful Zak :049: Dex is gorgeous. How are you finding him? Temperament etc? Are you doing anything with him - trials, IPO, obedience etc?

More pics please. Has Dex taken after his mother? Zak has definitely taken after Strike, and is so like him :)
