I just adopted this little girl from the pound (she was going to be put to sleep ) She is only 6 months and they listed her as a German Shep mix, but her face is narrower then German (could be what ever else she is mixed with) but when I posted her picture on facebook people commented that she could be Malinois. I don't care either way she is beautiful and sweet, but I have always wanted a Mal....so wouldn't that be cool
She is beautiful and yes, I can see Malinois in her far more than GSD although I am far from an expert. I just cannot believe that a pound would euthanise a six-month-old puppy Please give her hugs from me - oh, and welcome to Breedia from both Pereg and me!
Malka, Thank you for your warm welcome. Yep she was due to be put down (her kennel mate was ), there are two "dog pounds" here in Phoenix and they euthanize about 20-30 dogs a day, often very young (8 weeks) but there is a group that puts a list out of the dogs the night before so volunteers can network to try and save them. I had recently started following them and trying to help by sharing the information. I already have 2 dogs so I didn't really think I could have another one, or I wasn't brave enough to ask the hubby if I could. When I showed him Niki's picture he simply replied..."go get her"...what an amazing man!!!!!
I meant to put this photo up - sorry - blame it on sleep deprivation - as to me she looks so much like a Malinois although as I say I am no expert. But she is gorgeous, whatever she is! And I love that photo of her with your husband - definitely a special guy!
Mal x GS is quite a popular mix so it's quite possible she does have Mal in her She does have a narrower Mal type face but 6 months might be too early to tell... does she have any other Mal type traits or characteristics?
Thank goodness you were able to save her - so sad though about her kennel mate and all the others. Glad there's a network of volunteers doing their best to help. She is lovely - and I can certainly see the similarity to Malinois. Hope your other two dogs are happy with their new sister!
Malka, Thank you so much for asking, Deacon is the first one, and Snack is the second. I love your profile picture!!!!
Me love love love them! I want to reach through the monitor and give them loads and loads of huggles! My profile picture is Pereg by the open door watching the world go by - not that there is much to watch, and this is us both!
Azz - both Deacon and Snack are GORGEOUS - so is the "maybe" Mal - they are ALL gorgeous and I want to hug them all!
