It is not thought that the unfortunate woman died from any bites, but due to her ill health the attack caused her death.

Whatever happened, the poor lady died, and I send my condolences to her family.

Terrible tragedy, but what was the dog handler doing, did he not have control of the dog, it doesn't say if dog was on lead or not, There has been a few incidents recently of police dogs randomly biting the public, costing police forces a lot of money in Compensation.
I realise that with all the excitement and adrenalin rush dogs are more likely to make mistakes but handlers should be prepared for this.

Vee - I cannot find any more information so until an official comment is made, it is not for me or any of us to surmise what caused the poor lady to die.

All that is known is that she was attacked and bitten by the dog, although there are no reports as to why or what led up to the attack, and following the shock of the attack, together with her already fragile health, one or both led to her very sad death.

Wither she died because of her injuries or not, the dog attacking her could have been avoided had the handler had it under control, at the end of the day they were in peoples gardens so cautions should have been taken.

There is more about this on Facebook, but don't say if dog on/off lead just says took handler 10 mins to get dog under control & even then the dog bite again.

I have to say I agree with Vee. A police dog should be able to be stopped at any stage of an attack. Attacking the wrong person would not be acceptable in a PD (Patrol Dog) Working Test - and that is only an amateur dog sport. If this incident had been carried out by a Bull breed we would have been talking in terms of an irresponsible owner.

This is local to me and has been on our news everyday. Police stopped a car with two dealers in it and one escaped so the dog was brought in. They were given permission by the poor lady to search her garden and all the other residents did too. The dog is reported to have shot into her house from her garden and attacked her. Yes she was described as frail but as she was managing to live at home alone then was taken to hospital after the attack where she remained poorly and sadly died I find it hard to believe her death was not caused by this terrible incident.
