My name is Steven and my dogs name is Chip. He is an Australian Cattle Dog and very intelligent. He is 9 1/2 years old and I have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He weighs 51 lbs. (23 Kilos). He lives on a farm here in the Ozark Mountains and loves to chase deer and squirrels. I have never had to train him, he just always did what I asked from him. When I first got him I asked him if he wanted to go for a ride in the truck. He immediately ran outside and sat by the driver side door and when I opened it he jumped right in. Now it is an everyday thing to go for a ride. Iv'e told him the name of all the different animals he's seen and now all I have to do is say the animals name and he will go look for it. He seems to have been born with the understanding of the English language. LOL. He is extremely loyal and protective of me and is like velcro. He never leaves my sight. Wherever I am, there he is. At age 7 months he started having Gran Mal seizures and was put on phenobarbital and potassium bromide. These drugs really didn't control the seizures as he was having 1 per 25 +- days. Recently the vet added keppra but it didn't seem to help either. He has had many cluster seizures and had to be hospitalized but he always came out of it OK. Within the last 2 months I started him on CBD and now he has been seizure free since then.
Hi Malka and Anne, I have been going over the post in the forums and find it quite interesting. Glad to be here.
Hi Steven, welcome to Breedia Chip looks like a lovely dog, and from what you say, clever too! I shall look forward to seeing more photos and learning more about him - don't forget, if you'd like to submit photos for the profile just start a photo thread for Chip in the ACD forum and just let me know you're happy for us to feature his photos
Hello Steven. Welcome to Breedia. Your boy is a very handsome looking dog. I'm pleased to hear he has been seizure free since starting his new meds.
hi and welcome! glad to hear your dog is seizure free. we have a dog named katie who also has an incredible understanding of human language, including complete sentences. nice to know other dogs can pick it up as well. i wouldn't expect anything less from an aussie cattle dog.
Love your dog and look forward to seeing loads more photos of him. Sorry to hear he suffers the same fits as my Loki. Makes them all the more precious though
