Ok, now everything is looking secure, I can now announce that I'm getting a new puppy! Have been waiting for 2 years! Originally I was set on a puppy from one of the other bitches the breeders had. I loved her at first sight! But sadly, after losing out on her first litter, and then first in line for her second litter, it wasn't to be. All her puppies died in the womb and her breeders doubt very much they will use her again. At the same time they had another litter just born and they offered me a puppy from that litter instead. The parents are slightly less impressive and have fewer titles, but the pedigree on the sire's side especially is VERY nice, so I'm hopeful my puppy will have good working drive. They are 6 weeks old right now and my pup was chosen this past week. I was first in line and so my preference for a particular puppy was respected and I got the most impressive puppy in the litter I mentioned what I was looking for temperament wise too, so I'm hoping he has those qualities also. Still have ages until he can travel here to the UK so he won't be coming home until the middle of May ( earliest he can travel is 15 weeks ) But that gives me plenty of time to prepare for his arrival. Sooo, anyone wanna see pictures? My puppy on the left with his sister - At 5 weeks old - ( Azz, feel free to move this to the breed forum too. Just thought it would get more views here! )
Oooooo congrats Lou!! Wow he's a right little stunner I loved the one at Crufts, so will be very interested in seeing his updates and development. Have you thought about names yet? I've moved your thread to the Hovawart forum, but left a 7 day redirect (tho not really needed as I think most of us use the 'New posts' link to browse Breedia anyway )
Thanks Azz. I don't think this forum generates much traffic so thought it would be wise to post in the main thread out there and hopefully people will follow the link Have a few names in mind, but am always open to new suggestions!
Tell us what you have in mind and we can help you decide if you like I am currently into comic heroes as dogs names When we become established in search engines, threads in the breed forums will actually get a lot more people looking at them (as they'll click through to the breed forum via the breed profile), but yeah, I can see how it might be an issue for members who don't log in regularly enough to use the 'new posts' link. So I think adding a side column might be a good idea as we can then list the 'latest threads' from all forums... and if I can figure it out, also have blocks for the latest photo threads (again from all forums) as that was requested recently as well
Oh he is so lovely. Those puppies look the picture of health. What fun and joy are in store for you in the years to come!
He is absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations! I do not know anything about the breed so must have a read up all about them.
Hello handsome I suggest.. Beau - Meaning of Beau: "handsome" Origin of Beau: French It might also be used as short for beauty, beautiful
For some strange reason the name Duncan came to mind I have never heard of a dog called Duncan, it means in Gaelic dark warrior brown haired.
Thanks everyone I'm very excited. Love the name suggestions...especially Duncan! But can't see myself calling him that. I'm leaning towards Rueben myself
I like Reuben cos.... it sounds it could be a male version of Ruby (Ruby is my favourite programming language )
Thanks everyone. Don't think it's fully sunk in yet I'm getting a new pup. It's been so long since I've had a puppy and you tend to forget what it's like. I'm so accustomed to how well behaved and quiet my two are in the house and I'm sure the pup is gonna stir things up! Love the name suggestions. Like how you came up with Forest, Jackie. I think I'll end up likely calling him Rueben as I'm still favouring that name.
Oh he's gorgeous, there's nothing like a puppy and that puppy breath, you've just got to love it. The wait will be over before you know it and then the fun times will start. Yes please, I want to see pictures....lots of pictures
