I watched the Gold Cup at Cheltenham today. Lord Windermere, an outsider, trundled around way behind all the other horses.......appearing "not to have turned up" in footie speak. The commentator stopped bothering to mention him as they set off round the second circuit.........in fact he was not mentioned again until he suddenly appeared hurtling towards the front of the field. There was a somewhat tense time waiting for the result of a stewards enquiry but the result stood. I think that the jockey was in shock!! Several jockeys hurt today though - Gloucester A & E were rather busy.
Goodness no!! I don't bet apart from the odd Mars bar on silly things I just decided to watch the race for sentimental reasons, and found it remarkable.
