Has anyone come across a Loughlander Dog. I have a 9 month old bitch. The Loughlander is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Newfoundland Dog. It is no accident but a deliberate breeding by a registered breeder of both breeds. The Loughlander, obviously has the traits of both breeds and looks very similar to the Bernese and in some positions very much the Newfoundland dog. The Loughlander has been bred since the 1980s. Should you wish for more information then please feel free to contact me and I will relay to the breeder as they do not have internet connection at this time, (BT are still working on putting in the lines.) Although the Loughlander is registrable, I have not done so until I decide whether or not to breed her.
Hi Clive, post some photos of your Loughlander please You have actually given me an idea for a new thread, which I will post in a minute. Don't forget to add Loughlanders to the 'Is your breed missing' thread too - once we start adding crossbreeds we can add it as well then
Hi Azz, thanks for the reply. Attached are a couple of photos and if there is any further information you require, let me know as I do have some literature and the breeder will be happy to give me more info. Obviously one of the pictures is my Bernese Mountain Dog and the two of a puppy are my Loughlander.
Thanks Clive the pup looks so cute I will have tp pick your brains when we come to of the Loughlander profile Actually, if you can get the 'stats' to me that would be handy to have at the ready. (By stats I mean what's in the right hand box here under the photo: http://www.breedia.com/dogs/bernese-mountain-dog)
