Went to see a dog for adoption today. Just wondering if this dog is a Black Mouthed Cur? It's about the only breed I've seen that looks close. She's 45 lbs. and the only markings are on her face. Thanks.
Never heard of this breed, but they're lovely dogs aren't they. My answer would be no, because her head isn't wide enough, even if she was a puppy, their heads are wider (more like a lab look) imo. Also, she's too small, unless she was 12 weeks old but doesn't look to be that age in your pic? Do you know how old the dog is, could help with some answers from other people. Lovely little dog, I hope she's found her forever home with you
Welcome to Dogsey! I'm a know nuffink when it comes to guessing breeds or crosses. Never heard of a black mouthed cur (sounded more like a species of bird!) But it just looks like an adorable little mutt to me!
Is there some sort of Black Mouth Cur owners' club locally that you could ask? It's not a breed / type most people in the UK would be familiar with (including me)
Gorgeous dog and surely if it was a specific breed you'd have been told about it when you went to the kennel to see it. A lovely looking dog though and I'm sure you'll be very happy together. Let us know how you get on.
At first glance I thought of Hungarian Vizsla, but they don't have black mouths and the ears are too small. Never heard of a Black Mouth Cur before, but after googling it, I think it's highly possible. Lovely looking dog though.
Well, thanks for replies. Maybe I'll try one of those breed tests for the fun of it. Here's another picture of her before we adopted. Very nice and playful dog.
