I have a 4 month old gsd x Alaskan malamute she is black with 4white paws white chest and white tip on tale she looks more like a shepherd than a mal expect 4 very big paws and I never seen a black and white Shepard before just all black I have seen them called Alaskan Shepard before I never heard of that think I could be just to make them sound special I no gsd dogs are great guard dogs but I heard mals ain't so good could my pup get either temperament or a mix of both she has mixed with other dogs but not so much people is that a good or bad thing she only really barks the odd time and my one year old girl jumps all over her and she just walks away I dnt want my dog to b in any from aggresive but would like her to no if there is a danger
She sounds gorgeous Can you post a photo so that we can see her Providing she is well socialised (she is clearly great with your young daughter) I don't think you have anything to worry about. They all say it the 'deed not breed' so she is no less likely to be aggressive than a little dog. I assume you are always in the room with your daughter when your dog is around ..... personally I wouldn't totally trust any dog with a child.
As Jenny said - same here - however much I've trusted my dogs I'd never leave them alone in the same room as a baby or alone with my kids when they were toddlers and the dog was quite 'new'. Nor even have them inside if other people's small kiddies were visiting. Just because sometimes you never know what might 'spook' them and little kiddies can be a bit unpredictable too in the way they might treat the dog. I don't know how anyone could reliably tell you if there is or will be 'any danger'. Assuming you mean regarding the dog with your 1yr old? Your dog is still a baby. You say your one year old 'jumps all over her'. Well just my opinion but I wouldn't allow that anyway. I can still hear myself now when my kids were little and we had a puppy - Don't keep picking her up! Stop pulling her about! Leave her alone while she's eating! Don't disturb her when she's sleeping! Don't get her too excited! and so on and on and on! I think kids and dogs are wonderful together but I want children to be safe around dogs and also think dogs have a right to be protected from small children who might get too rough. Play fighting/biting should not be encouraged either. At your dog's age, I'd be concentrating on obedience training most really as well as the more obvious - house training. It's a good idea to ask questions about and try to find out as much as possible about the type of breed of dog before you bring one home. Althought I realise it is a bit late for you now! Sounds like a super looking dog. Will be interested to see photos. We have many wonderful and wise members on Dogsey whose brains you can pick regarding all things 'doggy'. I don't consider myself an expert at all but have owned dogs for decades, both big dogs and small dogs as well as a host of other animals!
We'll there she is at 4 months I Neva leave her alone with the baby and maybe I should of done abit more research but is that not what this forum is for thanks for the info I'd just like to no as much as possible as I have never owned either breed before I had dogs but I am far from a expert
