Help me identify the breed please!

My wife and I just adopted this little guy from the shelter. Turns out someone had dumped he and his sister and luckily someone found them and took them in. We fell in love with him the moment we met him. We are wondering if you guys could help us with the breed? The shelter had him as a Husky mix. We are thinking along the lines of Husky/Chow Chow, Husky/Golden Retriever, or a mix including a Canadian Eskimo dog. Shelter says the vet put him at 2 months. Any ideas?

    Welcome to Dogsey.

Your pup looks like a Husky mix, but I don't know what.

Sweet puppy! It'll be easier to tell as he gets older.

Cute doggy and I don't know how you resisted taking his sister too! No idea about breed - who cares? He certainly doesn't!

Maybe some Akita in there (depending if they are rare or not in your area). Sometimes puppies change so much as they mature, it's hard to pinpoint sometimes when they are so young.

    Absolutely adorable puppy.

Looks like Shiba Inu/Chow Chow if you ask me. I don't really see any Husky but it might be there. Like another user said, it might be easier to tell once he begins to grow. As his final size, coat, tail, head, ears etc. will help you hone in on his breed. So adorable!

Also, I should point out that his eyes ARE blue. It's difficult to see in his puppy pictures. Not as frost/ice blue as you see in purebred huskies, but blue nonetheless.

It is so hard to tell at such a tiny age, but the markings and colouring would suggest Siberian Husky (brown is much more common with them than the smaller Alaskan type) or Malamute (all kinds of colours). His perfect symmetry certainly suggests a Husky/Malamute ancestor, but he's got little, tiny paws, so I'd go more with Husky.

At the end of the day, who cares? He's absolutely beautiful.

Just an update. Here is our little guy at about age 6 months. We still haven't quite figured out his breed but we are starting to think he might be a border collie retriever mix. He is so smart it's scary! He is at around 20 inches and 40 lbs. Any input on his breed or how big he might get is most appreciated! We named him Logan. He is still in his toddler years but I can tell his loyalty and obedience is building. Thanks!

Yep! It's really him. I know, it's hard to believe when I look back at his puppy pictures. Really goes to show how much these little guys change. Thanks for the input!
